The APEX Solutions team
I graduated as a military engineer from ENSIETA (now ENSTA-Bretagne) in 1991, majoring in Chemistry-Powder-Pyrotechnics. Fascinated by chemistry, I took a DEA (~Master) in fine chemistry at the Université de Bretagne Occidentale in parallel with my first job.
I then held several technical positions at the DGA (Direction Générale de l’Armement) and CEA/DAM (Commissariat à l’Énergie Atomique, Direction des Applications Militaires) in fields linked to defense and security, and more generally the study of complex risks.
After having been coordinator of the ANR DEMOCRITE project (creation of a risk analysis and coverage platform for the Paris Fire Brigade) between 2014 and 2018, I decided to pursue this path by creating APEX solutions in July 2019.
I was a senior CEA expert in explosives physics, where I worked on the synthesis of new molecules and the formulation of compositions, on laboratory characterization, on “heavy” numerical simulation (3D codes) of explosion initiation phenomena and effects, and on rapid modeling of these same phenomena (the FLASH code for the ANR DEMOCRITE, for example, or the TEMPER software library of models for ammunition safety, for NATO). I was also a senior expert on the operation and vulnerability of warheads and munitions at the DGA (DGA/TT establishment in Bourges, then ETBS).
I have also been working for over 15 years on the modeling and simulation of reactive multiphase flows, particularly in connection with the rapid release of toxic substances and the generation of dispersion source terms.
Finally, as I have a strong appetite for transdisciplinary approaches, I have also developed in-depth skills in the field of major natural (earthquakes, floods…), anthropogenic (explosions, fires, toxic releases…) or health risks (epidemics…) and in approaches to assessing the vulnerability and resilience of complex systems.
Meeting operational people (firefighters, deminers, intervention forces, forensic experts, etc.) during the preparation and implementation of the DEMOCRITE project completely transformed my vision of my work. I discovered committed, dedicated, competent and enthusiastic people; exemplary organizations… unfortunately often lacking the financial or material resources to match the challenges they faced.
I was determined to do everything in my power to help those who invest so much time and effort in ensuring our safety, even to the point of putting their lives at risk on our behalf. That’s why I created APEX solutions in the first place, and why I was willing to take risks myself!
I could never have done it without the support of my family (my anchor, which remains the number 1 priority in my life), nor without a deep faith in the need for everyone to contribute, to the best of their ability, to the “common good”.
The values promoted by my company are therefore not just words for easy “ethical washing”; I intend them to become the foundation of APEX solutions; beacons that guide my actions and decisions, as well as those of my colleagues. If that’s the case, I’m sure we’ll achieve a great deal!
